7 ways to increase your video and Reels views
A little trick to increase your video views
Most of the time when you upload a video post or Reels to your IG, you don't care much about choosing the right cover for your video or naively believe Instagram can do it better. WRONG! If you want to increase the number of views, you MUST choose the perfect cover. Why? There is no magic: new visitors open your page feed and click on the posts that stand out and catch their attention! Or when they see your Reels in Recommendations, they decide based on the cover if they want to watch or scroll by.
TYPES OF CATCHY COVERS
“What the hack?" cover - Choose the weirdest moment of your video (or most disgusting, dear plastic surgeons) Example: cover for the video of underarm Botox. Number of views were x5 times higher than average - only because of weird cover (black armpits? Wtf?? I need to know about this!).
“I know her/him!" cover - works perfectly for videos with influencers and celebrities. If you collaborate with influencers or make the post about celebrity, use their face as the cover for your video.
“Tabloid” cover - all about CLICKBAIT texts. all about CLICKBAIT texts. Think of those magazines at the checkout of your local drugstore with screaming titles “Linda Evangelista vs. Cool Sculpting machine! Round 1! Fight!”, “3 terrible secrets of Meghan Markle”, “Hollywood Blood-Harvesting: where to buy adrenochrome?”? It’s truly hard to pass by and NOT to open the video with a clickbait text title.
“Numbered” cover - use numbers/countdowns/lists in your covers! Besides video Click-Through-Rate, this trick will boost your Watch-Through-Rate as well, if you use numbers in reverse order. Because everyone wants to know your “Top 5 Beauty secrets”, “7 night creams I recommend”, “3 Instagram algorithm hacks”.
“Ahaha” cover, or “Wowowowow” cover - choose the coolest still shot of your video or the funniest moment/funny still with your weird face.
“On trend” cover - if your boring low-quality video on how to cook crispy squid with caponata has a cover from Squid Games, trust us, it will work this season (post written in November 2021). Don’t forget about situational marketing when you choose covers (for this one you can use “Add Cover from Camera Roll” button).
“Something different” cover - when your video cover is in different colors/different style than the rest of your feed. Lastly: These rules can be applied to just as well to TikTok. Please DO NOT leave it all to chance and use Instagram’s in-build video cover selector.
